Quick Answer
Who is Texan Mosquito Systems?
Texan Mosquito Systems is a family-owned Texas company that designs, installs, and maintains automated mosquito misting systems in greater Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. We are family-owned and not a franchise, every system is built and serviced by our own licensed Texas applicators, never subcontracted, never franchised, and with no long-term contracts.
Started in a Houston backyard. Built for Texas backyards.
It started the way these things start, a Houston family tired of watching their kids come inside covered in bites every evening, and tired of the franchise companies that charged annual contracts and sent a different technician every visit.
So they built their own system. Pyrethrum-based, routed around the fence line and landscape beds, timed to fire at dusk. It worked. The neighbors asked for one. Then the whole cul-de-sac. Within a year, they were installing across greater Houston and the business had a name: Texan Mosquito Systems.
We’ve fielded franchise offers more than once. Each time we turned them down. Buying into a national brand meant giving up the two things we actually sold: custom designs for each property, and the same crew showing up for every refill.
Eventually we opened a second depot to serve Dallas–Fort Worth. Today we run barrel and tankless systems across every major Houston and DFW suburb, and still design every layout by hand before a single fitting is cut.
You own your system. No subscriptions, no “service agreements,” no auto-renewing annual contracts. If you want refills from us, great, we’ll be here. If you’d rather do it yourself, we’ll leave you with the SDS and a phone number. That’s the deal, and it’s been the deal from day one.
First system installed in a Houston backyard. Family-owned from day one.
Built an in-house team of licensed Texas applicators, no subcontractors, no day labor.
Opened a second depot to serve Plano, Frisco, Fort Worth, and the greater Metroplex.
Refined both barrel and tankless designs, custom-drawn for every property.
Added restaurant + HOA + event lines for commercial mosquito control.
Still family-owned. Still independent. No franchise. No subcontractors.
Family-owned vs.
a franchise.
The biggest names in mosquito control are national franchises, the person who quotes you doesn’t own the truck that shows up, and the technicians rotate constantly. Here’s what changes when you hire a family-owned Texas crew instead.
Family-owned Texas business. One owner, one crew, one set of answers.
Local franchisee under a national brand. Rules set in corporate, not Texas.
Our own licensed TPCL-certified applicators. Same crew on every visit.
Frequently subcontracted. Rotating techs, inconsistent workmanship.
Drawn by hand for your property. Barrel or tankless. Nozzle-by-nozzle.
Template kits. Same nozzle counts regardless of yard. “Pick a package.”
None. You own the hardware. Refills are opt-in, month to month.
Annual service agreements with auto-renewal clauses. Cancellation fees.
EPA-registered pyrethrum. Botanical. UV-degrades in minutes.
Corporate-sourced formulations. Often synthetic pyrethroids with longer residuals.
Any major brand, even systems we didn’t install. MistAway, Pynamite, etc.
Only their own branded systems. Customers lock-in hardware + service.
Owner’s direct line. A real Texan will answer (713) 257-9125.
1-800 call center routes through corporate. Escalations take days.

Hey, thanks for reading this far.
I started this company because my wife got tired of me dragging citronella candles across the yard every evening, and because the quotes I was getting from national brands felt like pick a package, sign here, next customer. I wanted a system that was drawn for my property, installed by the same person I’d see on every refill visit, and priced without a contract.
All these years later, that’s still the company. Every system we install today, barrel, tankless, residential, commercial, gets drawn by hand by someone on our crew. Every refill visit is run by a licensed Texas applicator on our payroll. Every invoice is the full number, in writing, before we start.

Two metros.
Twenty-five cities.
One family crew.
We’re not a national franchise with a local paint job. We’re a Houston-based family team that drives the I-45 corridor daily and ships a dedicated crew up to DFW every week. Our service radius was drawn around the communities we can reach without cutting corners.
Greater Houston
Dallas · Fort Worth
Four things we won't compromise.
Every system on every truck, every technician at every door, every refill visit every season, these are the four rules that have held from day one.
Licensed Texas applicator on every visit.
Every tech holds a current Texas Pesticide Control License (TPCL) from the TDA, passes a background check, and completes 40+ hours of pyrethrum-application training before touching a customer’s property.
No contracts. Ever.
You own the hardware. Refills, maintenance, and seasonal service are all opt-in. If you move, change your mind, or just want to DIY, there’s nothing to cancel and no cancellation fee.
Pyrethrum, botanical, UV-degrading.
Our default concentrate is EPA-registered pyrethrum, derived from chrysanthemum flowers. It breaks down in UV within minutes of firing, and cycles run at dawn and dusk to avoid pollinator windows.
Every layout drawn by hand.
No template kits. Your yard gets walked, measured, and laid out nozzle-by-nozzle against your fence line, landscape, and prevailing wind. HOA documentation is included at no charge.

How long have you been in business?
Family-owned and continuously operating for over a decade, starting with our first system installed in a Houston backyard. Since then we’ve served Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and every suburb in between, without selling, franchising, or subcontracting.
Are you a franchise?
No. Texan Mosquito Systems is a family-owned Texas company, not a franchise of a national chain. We’ve turned down multiple franchise acquisition offers over the years. Every system is designed, installed, and serviced by our own licensed Texas applicators. If you’re talking to someone on our crew, you’re talking to a direct employee.
What licenses and certifications do your techs hold?
Every technician on our crew holds a current Texas Pesticide Control License (TPCL) issued by the Texas Department of Agriculture as a licensed commercial pesticide applicator. We apply EPA-registered pyrethrum concentrates under state-mandated supervision, and we carry $1M general liability insurance. License and insurance documentation is available on request.
What parts of Texas do you serve?
Two metros: Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. Houston coverage includes Houston, Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, Cypress, League City, Pearland, Kingwood, Spring, and Tomball. DFW coverage includes Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, Allen, McKinney, Garland, Irving, Arlington, and Denton. Not listed? Call (713) 257-9125, we’ll check.
Do I have to sign a contract?
Never. We don’t do contracts, we never have. You own the hardware once it’s installed. Refills, maintenance, and seasonal service are always opt-in, month-to-month. If you move, change your mind, or just want to handle refills yourself, there’s nothing to cancel and no cancellation fee.

A licensed Texas technician visits your property, walks the yard, maps the nozzle layout by hand, and emails a full quote, typically within 48 hours. No sales script, no pressure, no obligation. If we’re not the right fit for your property, we’ll say so.
